Why it exists
Closing the gap between industry and education
Graduates were reaching industry without hands-on experience. Constance Swaniker set up DTI inside the Accents & Art workshop so that students learn on real projects, next to people who make things for a living.
Professionals from Accents & Art helped write the curriculum. It joins traditional craft with engineering principles, so students learn the technical skills and also how to make something that works and looks right.
Students train in metal sculpture, architectural design, industrial engineering and fabrication, working with a range of materials and drawing on Ghana's own design heritage.
DTI also works with local artisans and organisations, and its graduates now work across construction, design and manufacturing.
What DTI does
Three things DTI does
Trains on real work
Students learn in a working fabrication shop, not only in a classroom.
Sets a standard
The Precision Fabrication and Precision Quality curriculum is accredited by COTVET, at welding and fabrication level 3.
Opens doors
Through the Precision Quality Internship, students and recent graduates gain experience that employers recognise. About the internship.
